I had been trying to find a clip of Alex Honnold free soloing Half Dome for a while now, but here is a small snippet from the upcoming First Ascent series by Sender Films. I love Honnold’s focus he seems to maintain effortlessly, especially in The Sharp End and On Sight.

Although having slight dabbles, I’ve always decided to stay away from soloing for the practical equating of risk vs reward, although I’ve been surrounded by ambassadors for it. After a recent brief foray into it again, I experienced that focus of mind I had been told about, and it had (worryingly) planted a seed.

This has only been exacerbated by reading Kev Shield’s story on UKClimbing (reminiscent of the relationship turmoil of Andy Kirkpatrick’s Psychovertical).
