I’d followed updates about The Asgard Project as it was in progress, and made sure I bought it soon after it came out. Apart from the fact I think it’s almost ruined by the presence of Leo Houlding, it’s still a fantastic production.
Through digital advertising blogs I came across this Berghaus microsite game created by Crab Creative, not so much for The Asgard Project but more using the film to showcase the brand. Nothing against the brand, but my opinions were immediately pretty low for any type of ‘climbing game’, especially a flash game on a microsite, but in fact the game is actually really very impressive.
It works like a standard directional climbing climbing game, but there’s also the need to manage you stamina while reaching runners and eventually the belay. On top of that, you need to manage your stamina and watch out for falling rocks, wind (which affect your balance) and snow (which affects your stamina). Climbing up cracks increases your speed, while climbing over ice may be a shortcut but while prove challenging to your balance.
The game is very well constructed, flows efficiently and is segmented with video clips form The Asgard Project. The game even integrates with Facebook to promote your progress. Basically the game is one of the most impressive microsite games I’ve ever seen, and the most thorough climbing game I’ve definitely ever seen.
