I’m about 3 quarters of the way through Between a Rock and a Hard Place by Aron Ralston (thanks @AudreyisAjoure) when I found out that the story is about to be released as a film, directed by Danny Boyle. It’s a difficult story to imagine as a film, and even harder when you try to picture it with the Danny Boyle magic done to it, but I’ve got faith it’ll be a good execution (I’ve got doubts that it’ll go mainstream though).
While canyoneering in the Moab desert in April 2003, Aron’s hand became trapped by a boulder, and after struggling to survive for almost five days, he finally separated himself from his compromised limb. It’s a fascinating tale, and although the book can be too wordy at times it’s enthralling enough to keep you reading. I can only imagine that the film will focus more on the events leading up to his accident and the repercussions the accident has had on his life (emotional, life-altering ones rather than the physical disability).
Above is the trailer for the film 127 Hours directed by Danny Boyle and scheduled to be released in November, and here is a link to the true story book Between a Rock and a Hard Place by Aron Ralston.
One final note on the trailer - isn’t it really weird that the trailer uses clips from previous Danny Boyle films? Do they think his name won’t carry enough weight on it’s own?
